In my experience, the most successful political leaders with I whom I worked were adept at more than persuasion, negotiation, relationships, building coalitions, and forging longer-term partnerships, as important as these skills are. While solving present-day problems, they tended to consider how the results might fit into a larger whole and how to plant the seeds of future opportunities.
