ナチュラルキラー細胞(NK細胞)の受容体の一つであるKiller Immunoglobulin-like Receptor (KIR)は、NK細胞の活性化制御に重要な役割を担っている。本研究で、KIRと結合するリガンドの探索を試みたところ、KIR2DS4が特定のウィルス感染細胞に結合する事が明らかとなった。KIR2DS4リガンドの同定は、生体における感染症制御メカニズム解明につながる可能性が考えられる。
Killer immunoglobulin-like receptors (KIRs) have been shown to play a crucial role in regulating the activation of NK cells. To find out the novel ligand for KIRs, KIR-Ig fusion proteins were produced in this study. The binding of KIR2DS4-Ig to specific virus infected cells was detected, indicating that specific virus infected cells expressed unknown ligand for KIR2DS4.
