In order to pursue a high performance mist-cooling heat exchanger, experimental and theoretical studies on mist cooling have been performed on a heated horizontal tube bundle in a vertical spray crossflow. The dependency of the heat transfer performance on the configuration of the heat exchanger has been clarified. A method for optimizing the heat exchanger design was presented.
