          <dc:description>This study focuses on English learners’ transcription of sentence parts that could pose difficulties to learners. Utilizing the methods introduced in Kazumi (2014), this study examines a new set of data from a different class of students. The results are consistent with those in Kazumi (2014) and support the hypothesis that the ability to hear phonetically weak parts of a sentence such as function words and word-initial weak syllables reflects the students’ overall proficiency levels. The new set of data also includes consonant sequences across the word boundary and its analysis suggests that the ability to hear such sequences reflects the students’ proficiency levels.</dc:description>
