However, many bad weather conditions in winter, such as strong wind and much snowfall, occur in this area, which can not be observed in the Pacific Ocean area.  Their characteristics have to be completely understood in order to conquer these tad conditions. Therefore, we have investigated on the following matters for several years. 1. Characteristics of wind. 2. Characteristics of snow.  The investigation in the field shows that the following characteristics of wind and snow in the Japan Sea area are greatly different from those in the Pacific Ocean area. (i)  Wind velocity and direction. (ii) Duration time and time band to blow. (iii) Gust factor. (iv) Types of snowfall and accumulated snow. (v) Quality of snow.}, pages = {11--24}, title = {北陸地方の気象特性 : 風と雪について}, volume = {8}, year = {1974} }
