Data for the system water­-isopropyl alcohol-ethyl acetate-magnesium chloride plotted in Figure 2 by Hirata­Fujita method. The smoothed curves in Figure 3 and 4 represent that the decrease in solubility of non-electrolyte in aqueous solution by effect of a salt. Gilmont have classified liquids into five groupings, based on their possibilities of forming hydrogen bonds. According to this classification, it is shown the liquid-liquid equilibrium is effective to the solvent layer by addition of inorganic salt, provided solvent Class II which was classified by Gilmont is used for the extraction of organic material Class I in aqueous solution. This conclusion are substantiated by other systems.
