The plant is com-monly cultivated in central and southern Japan and rarely escapes to establish itself in Nagasaki Prefecture, southwestern Japan. It is newly found that the population of the species grows wildly on rocky river banks in Saikai-cho of Na-gasaki Prefecture. It can be considered as a rhe-ophyte.
