HPV-negative patients with SPARC-Low show survival as favorable as HPV-positive patients, probably because of their higher salvage rate after relapse than SPARC-High patients. Objective: The objectives of the study were to clarify the correlation between the expression of secreted protein acidic and rich in cysteine (SPARC) and HPV-status, and to determine the prognostic value of SPARC-expression in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) patients. Methods: Fifty-three formalin-fixed and paraffin-embedded tissues were obtained from patients with OPSCC who underwent curative treatment. The SPARC protein was detected by immunohistochemistry. SPARC-expression level was divided into two categories, SPARC-High and SPARC-Low, according to the staining index. Results: Twenty-two out of the 53 OPSCC patients were HPV-positive. There was no significant correlation between the HPV-status and SPARC-expression level. Multivariate Cox proportional hazards regression analysis revealed that the HPV-status and SPARC-expression are independent prognostic indicators of favorable and unfavorable overall survival (OS) (p = 0.021 and p = 0.012), respectively. For disease-free survival, the HPV-status was the only predictive factor (p = 0.022). After stratification by the HPV-status, high SPARC-expression was a significant predictor of poor OS in HPV-negative OPSCC patients using Kaplan-Meier analysis and the log-rank test (p = 0.014). Ten out of 28 SPARC-Low patients relapsed, among which six patients (60%) were salvaged. However, 14 out of 25 SPARC-High patients relapsed, and only three patients (21.4%) were salvaged. © 2015 Taylor & Francis.","subitem_description_type":"Abstract"}]},"item_4_description_22":{"attribute_name":"内容記述","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_description":"Embargo Period 12 months","subitem_description_type":"Other"}]},"item_4_publisher_17":{"attribute_name":"出版者","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_publisher":"Taylor and Francis Ltd"}]},"item_4_relation_12":{"attribute_name":"DOI","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_relation_type":"isVersionOf","subitem_relation_type_id":{"subitem_relation_type_id_text":"10.3109/00016489.2015.1103381","subitem_relation_type_select":"DOI"}}]},"item_4_source_id_11":{"attribute_name":"NCID","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"AA0050923X","subitem_source_identifier_type":"NCID"}]},"item_4_source_id_9":{"attribute_name":"ISSN","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"0001-6489","subitem_source_identifier_type":"ISSN"}]},"item_4_version_type_25":{"attribute_name":"著者版フラグ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_version_resource":"http://purl.org/coar/version/c_ab4af688f83e57aa","subitem_version_type":"AM"}]},"item_creator":{"attribute_name":"著者","attribute_type":"creator","attribute_value_mlt":[{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Yoshida, Shinya"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Wakisaka, Naohiro"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{},{},{},{}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Kondo, Satoru"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{},{},{}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Moriyama-Kita, Makiko"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Hirai, Nobuyuki"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{},{}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Endo, Kazuhira"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{},{},{}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Tsuji, Akira"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{},{},{}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Nakanishi, Yosuke"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{},{},{}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Murono, Shigeyuki"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{},{},{}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Yoshizaki, Tomokazu"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{},{},{},{}]}]},"item_files":{"attribute_name":"ファイル情報","attribute_type":"file","attribute_value_mlt":[{"accessrole":"open_date","date":[{"dateType":"Available","dateValue":"2017-10-03"}],"displaytype":"detail","filename":"ME-PR-WAKISAKA-N-189.pdf","filesize":[{"value":"2.0 MB"}],"format":"application/pdf","licensetype":"license_note","mimetype":"application/pdf","url":{"label":"ME-PR-WAKISAKA-N-189.pdf","url":"https://kanazawa-u.repo.nii.ac.jp/record/14456/files/ME-PR-WAKISAKA-N-189.pdf"},"version_id":"b19a7d1b-f8cc-4eaf-b3a0-600f50409784"}]},"item_language":{"attribute_name":"言語","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"eng"}]},"item_resource_type":{"attribute_name":"資源タイプ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"journal article","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]},"item_title":"Expression of secreted protein acidic and rich in cysteine is an independent prognostic indicator of a poor clinical outcome in oropharyngeal carcinoma patients","item_titles":{"attribute_name":"タイトル","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_title":"Expression of secreted protein acidic and rich in cysteine is an independent prognostic indicator of a poor clinical outcome in oropharyngeal carcinoma patients"}]},"item_type_id":"4","owner":"3","path":["1134"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"公開日","attribute_value":"2017-10-03"},"publish_date":"2017-10-03","publish_status":"0","recid":"14456","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["Expression of secreted protein acidic and rich in cysteine is an independent prognostic indicator of a poor clinical outcome in oropharyngeal carcinoma patients"],"weko_creator_id":"3","weko_shared_id":-1},"updated":"2023-07-28T00:47:15.262428+00:00"}
