| 内容記述 | The present study was performed to determine items required in mother and child health checkups performed at different types of facility, and problems in mother and child health that were recognized by individual professionals involved in the health checkup based on comparison between a healthcare center and maternity hospital in Makassar, Republic of Indonesia. A questionnaire survey was performed regarding health checkups at two facilities—a healthcare center and a maternity hospital. The questionnaire elicited responses regarding the necessity of 21 items in the maternal checkup and 14 items in the newborn/infant health checkup as well as the degrees of seriousness of 16 maternal and child health problems extracted from a preliminary investigation. The responses were scored using a 5-point evaluation. The questionnaires were administered by professionals involved in health checkups in Indonesia. The chi-square test was used for analyses using each item and the two facilities as variables. The results indicated differences in the number and type of equipment available for checkups between the health center and maternity hospital. Examinations of breath sounds and lung sounds tended to have low ratings for necessity. It was considered necessary to prevent respiratory diseases in infants. Although the association between hypertension as a risk for eclampsia was recognized in both facilities, recognition of anemia in pregnant women was significantly poor considering the low hemoglobin reference value defined by healthcare centers. In addition, although there were differences in the recognition of problems between the facilities, it will be necessary to address the challenges recognized in both facilities to improve maternal and child health. | |||||
