 note = {This article reports on the Japanese/English language exchange via SKYPE between Emory University and Kanazawa University students. Emory University students who study Japanese and Kanazawa University students who volunteered to participate in this program were paired and conversed via SKYPE using Japanese and English for approximately 30 minutes each. After the program, the first author interviewed seven Japanese students and obtained feedback. The authors found students’ increased motivations to work on speaking and listening skills and their struggles in intercultural communication. The students’ feedback revealed challenges students faced in this language exchange and potential ways to improve this program.},
