| 内容記述 | 本稿ではラフカデイオ・ハー ンにおける二つの文学的表象， 青空と霊を取り上げる。 これらは彼の紀行文や幽霊物語だけでなく， 思弁的な内容のエッセイにも現れるものである。 彼はこの二つの表象を用いて， 人間における個人性を否定する議論を展開する。 ハー ンは言う。 人間のうちには無数の死者すなわち霊が存在しており， 人間とはいわば集合体である。 また人間にとって，青空をみて憧れ， 自分が青空に融け入り． いまある個人的な自己を失うことを願うのは， 賢明であり合理的である、と。しかしその一方で彼は、他者との倫理的関係を結ぽうとする主体としての「私」を認めているようでもある。 ハー ンのエッセイは夢想的であり晦渋でもあるけれども，その目指すところはおそらく人間存在の二面性の把握にあるのであり その点で彼は和辻哲郎の立場に近いように思われる。 そこで試みに和辻倫理学を補助線として用いて， 幽霊の登場する作品の一つである『人形の墓』を分析し、そこからハーンの哲学的議論における霊と、文芸作品における霊との連続性を考察する。 | |||||

| 内容記述 | This paper focuses on the ghost and the blue sky, the two literary representations we frequently find in the writings of Lafcadio Hearn. They not only appear in his travel pieces and ghost stories, but they also have key roles in his philosophical discussions. In his essays, Hearn denies individuality of the man with paradoxical expressions. According to him, there exists within us a multitude of ghosts, and the living being is nothing but a composite. He also maintains that it is wise and reasonable to aspire to melt into the azure summer sky and thus to become one with it. However, he seems to approve the Self, which has its own will to form ethical relationships with others. Hearn's essays look dreamy and obscure, but their aim is to grasp these two aspects of human nature. On this point, Hearn's ethical thought is close to that of Watsuji Tetsuro. This paper analyzes one of Hearn's ghost stories, Ningyo-no-Haka, within the context of Watsuji's ethics, and inquires into the internal relationship between the philosophical ghost and literary ghost in Hearn's text. | |||||
