| 内容記述 | メソアメリカ文明における球技は，時代，地域に関わらず，重要な文化要素であった。また，球技はメソアメリカと非メソアメリカを分ける文化要素の一つにもなり得る。本稿で対象とするホ ンジュラスはメソアメリカ文明の一部であるマヤ文明の南東部にあたり，メソアメリカ文明やマヤ文明における周縁地域とされている。それゆえ，ホンジュラスにおける球技を研究することは，コパンを中心としたマヤ南東部と非マヤ周辺地域を視野に入れた球技文化の分化と変遷を解明することにつながる。この研究に伴って，当時の政治的関係やパワーバランス，文化領域，地域間交流などに言及することも可能となる。しかし，ホンジュラスでは球技研究は盛んではない。 近年になって球技場のデータベースも作成されているものの，研究者によって確認されている球技場の総数は異なっており，ホンジュラスにおける球技研究は錯綜しているのが現状である。そのような事態から脱却するためにも，文献を読み込むだけでなく，実際に遺跡を訪問し，球技場を踏査する必要がある。 | |||||

| 内容記述 | T Ballgames have comprised an important part of culture throughout all periods of Mesoamerican civilization. As such, these games can be a way of distinguishing between Mesoamerica and non-Mesoamerica cultures. The focus of this article, Honduras, is located in the southeastern Maya region, an area that is also regarded as peripheral within Mesoamerica. Thus, a study of ballgames in Honduras clarifies both differences and transitions in the culture of these games between the southeastern Maya and non-Maya areas. This study also highlights political connections, the balance of power, the cultural sphere, and inter-regional interactions at this time in the area. There have been a limited number of previous studies on ballgames in Honduras, however; Researchers have recently created a ballcourt database for this country, but opinions have diverged regarding the total number. As these studies have become a point of contention in academic circles, I conducted a comprehensive survey of Honduran ballcourts in order to contribute to this discussion. I visited four sites and surveyed five ballcourts across Honduras during the course of this study (the sites of Gualjoquito, La Union, Roncador, and Copan). The results of this survey are presented here, alongside three perspectives for the future study of ballgames in Honduras, the stone material and architectural technique used, their orientation, and the ballcourt type. |
