| 内容記述 | 水上勉の文学には「裏日本」を背景とする作品が多い。「裏日本」という言葉は， 現在では差別用語とされているが， 元々自然地理的な用語であり， 近代以前のH本海側では「裏」という言葉に差別意識は含まれていなかった。 日本近代の産業革命による「表日本」と「裏日本」の経済格差の拡大に伴い， 二十世紀初頭までに「裏日本」は「表日本」に対するヒト・モノ ・ カネの供給地とみなされ， 社会的格差を表現する概念として使われるようになった。 他方，「裏」という言葉に， 開発の手を逃れた日本海側に日本の大切なものが秘匿されているという意味を見出す， 積極的な評価の動きもある。水上は， 後者の肯定的な「裏」解釈の立場から「裏日本」を表現する作家である。 しかし，彼の故郷である若狭に林立する「原発銀座」は，差別的な意味での「裏」 との関連を示唆している。 本論では，「裏日本」の両義性を踏まえ，水上の作品『故郷』で描かれる三つの場所， 即ち， 冬の浦， 東唐崎， 若狭を考察対象とし，「裏」の表象を分析することにより， 彼の文学実践における錯綜する故郷観を明らかにする。 | |||||

| 内容記述 | Many of Mizukami Tutomu's works explore a theme of "Ura Nihon" (rear Japan), which was originally coined as a natural geographical term but started to imply an economic gap between "Omote Nihon" (front Japan) and "Ura Nihon" during the twentieth century as Japan's modern Industrial Revolution accelerated. By the beginning of the twentieth century, "Ura Nihon" was considered as a supplier of labor, products, and as an asset for "Omote Nihon." "Ura Nihon" has become a common expression with which to refer to social differences as well. Furthermore, "Ura" also implies a place that has been overlooked by modem development and therefore preserves what has been lost in the curse of the nation's rapid modernization. Mizukami Tsutomu is one of representative writers whose literature expresses such positive evaluations of "Ura Nihon." However, the "Nuclear Ginza" in his hometown Wakasa suggests a relation with "Ura" in a discriminatory sense. In this article, the focus is on the ambiguity of the concept of"Ura Nihon." I analyze three places described in Mizukami's Kokyo: "Fuyu no Ura," "Higashi Karasaki," and "Wakasa," in order to explore the sense of home in Mizukami's literary practice. | |||||
