| 内容記述 | 20世紀初頭の英語圏で上演された日本を題材にした戯曲の中でも、菊池寛と郡虎彦の作品は、日本語で執筆された作品が英語に翻訳・上演される過程での、文化・言語圏の移動による変容が見られる。アイルランド、イギリス、日本における資料調査と専門家との研究情報交換を行い、新資料を発掘・整理した。その研究成果を公開するために、研究分担者と共にシンポジウム及びワークショップを計三回開催したほか、国際学術集会や国際ワークショップを含む国内外の学会で研究発表を行った。それらの研究発表における議論の結果を『日本近代文学』『比較文学』等査読付学会誌で発表し、著書『越境する想像力 日本近代文学とアイルランド』にまとめた。 | |||||

| 内容記述 | Among early twentieth century plays with Japan as their theme that were performed in English-speaking countries, works by Kan Kikuchi and Torahiko Kori showed transformation--through translation and performance of Japanese plays in English--owing to changes in cultural and linguistic settings. Research was conducted in Ireland, the United Kingdom, and Japan, and the findings were exchanged with experts in order to discover and summarize new data. To publish this research, three symposiums/workshops were held with co-researchers in addition to presentation of the results at domestic and international conferences, including international academic meetings and workshops. The results of the discussions at these presentations were published in peer-reviewed journals such as Nihon Kindai Bungaku(Modern Japanese Literaturary Studies) and Journal of Comparative Literature and were summarized in the publication‘Imagination Without Borders; Modern Japanese Literature and Ireland'. | |||||
