Concretely, we estimated the economic loss in K City, Ishikawa Prefecture, caused by caregivers'turnover when nursing care for family members became necessary. We also estimated the economic ripple effect including the creation of job opportunities produced by medical and long-term care expenses. \nWe conducted a survey about family caregivers in K City. Using the relevant results, we estimated the economic loss resulting from caregivers'turnover triggered by the need for nursing care. Furthermore, we analyzed the K City input-output table to estimate the economic ripple effect created by medical and long­term care costs. We also performed Monte Carlo simulations for both the economic loss and the economic ripple effect. \nResults of the estimation revealed that caregivers assisting other family members would suffer serious economic losses. In addition, we estimated the economic ripple effect and employment-induced nwnber produced by medical and long-term care costs for 2025; accordingly, the effect and employment-induced nwnber will be larger than it was in 2014. We concluded that K City would not be able to supply enough employees to meet the need because of the declining working-age population there.
