| 内容記述 | 本研究課題においては、英語形容詞の意味と構文との関係について、認知言語学の知見を背景としながら、大規模な共時的・通事的なコーパス・データの解析に基づく量的言語学の厳密な検証と実証の手法を用いることによる分析を展開した。調査に用いられた共時的データはICE-GBから得られたものであり、一方、通時的データはCLMETやDCPSEなどのコーパスから得られた。限定構文と叙述構文について形容詞の分布を詳細に分析することによって、英語形容詞がどのように二構文間で使用されているのか、また形容詞とそれが生じる構文とが歴史的にはどのように発展してきたのかが包括的に明らかになった。 | |||||

| 内容記述 | The present research project is focused on the relationship between English adjectives and the constructions that they appear in. Theoretically, the work draws on cognitive-functional linguistics, while its analyses are heavily based on intensive quantitative/statistical analyses of data taken from corpora. The data comes from a synchronic corpus such as ICE-GB and also from diachronic corpora such as CLMET3.0 and DCPSE. By using a series of quantitative methods, the present work shows how adjectives are used in the attributive and predicative constructions. It also reveals how English adjectives have developed over time in these two constructions. | |||||
