Although histidine is expected to be a candidate for blood glucose-lowering nutrient, the precise mechanism of how central histidine suppresses hepatic glucose production remains unclear. Here, we found that central action of histidine and histamine decreased hepatic gluconeogenic genes by activating hepatic STAT3 signaling via the vagus nerve.
