| 内容記述 | 注釈は学問の正統性を保証する技術的装置であると同時に、代替的な表現の場でもある。19世紀初頭アメリカの歴史記述において、注釈は史的客観性を担保するだけでなく、創造的な可能性を有する実践だった。また、注釈は近代における小説ジャンルの発展にも影響を与えていた。それは科学的客観性と文学的想像力とが交差し、新しいスタイルのテクストを生み出す空間だった。 文学研究の方法として、創造的な注釈の実践は既存の解釈や作家像にかわる新しい視座を導入するうえで大きな可能性を有している。また、文学教育においても本文テクストを多くの観点から解釈し、補足し、その成果を一つにまとめる方法として注釈は有効である。 |

| 内容記述 | While footnoting is a technical practice of a scholarly profession which ensures the authenticity and legitimacy of an academic argument, it works as an alternative field of expression. In the early national American history writing, for example, footnotes both vouchsafed historical objectivity and accommodated the writer’s creative voice. This footnote creativity had direct or indirect consequences on the rise of the novel. Scientific objectivity and literary imagination met in footnotes and a new style of writing was born in that marginal text. As a method of literary studies, creative footnoting can introduce an alternative understanding of a literary text and its author. In literary education, moreover, the practice of footnoting is effective in providing a variety of readings, augmenting a literary text, and packaging the in-class activities in one end-product. |
