 note = {この研究は、現代社会における宗教と児童文学の関係を、作品と読者に焦点を当てて考察することを目的としている。主要対象作品は、北米のアーミッシュ・コミュニティーを題材とした児童文学である。アーミッシュの子供たちが主人公の物語のうち、アーミッシュ・コミュニティー内で読まれている作品と、非アーミッシュ児童に広く読まれている作品を比較・分析した。これらの研究により、過去20年間に北米で出版数が飛躍的に伸びている一般児童向けアーミッシュ題材児童文学の実態を明らかにし、宗教コミュニティーの登場人物が世俗的な児童文学マーケットに浸透している理由を探った。, This research focuses on children's literature with Amish themes. The research compared children's literature written for non-Amish children and children's literature written for Anabaptist families including the Amish. The research found that texts for non-Amish readers tend to depict "glamorous chores" (i.e. looking after cute domestic animals, collecting eggs, picking strawberries and other colorful fruits) whereas stories in the children's section of an Anabaptist family magazine deal with more mandane chores such as cleaning and ironing, taking care of younger siblings who are often unhappy or unruly, and so on.
