| 内容記述 | The Huizhou defined herein refers to a Chinese dialect group mainly spoken in the area around the old Huizhou region. This region spans the southern region of Anhui Province and the northern part of Jiangxi Province. Surrounded by an area with three major dialects, namely Wu, Gan, and Jianghuai Mandarin, this area has long been a crucible of dialect contact, owing to which there exists a considerable degree of linguistic difference. However, research so far conducted on the Huizhou dialect largely focuses on phonetics of one specific dialect or on similarities among several dialects from the aspect of phonology. This essay reports on the field research I conducted in 2015. Based on the materials I surveyed for 36 dialects of 3 counties in this area, namely Qimen, Wuyuan, and Jixi, I identify similarities and differences of these dialects through describing the phonetic features of each. | |||||
