1991). 祁連山脈はツァイダム盆地とアラシャン山地 (中朝地塊の西部) の間にある原生代末期からデボン紀にかけての造山帯 (カレドニア期) であり, 北から走廊モラッセ帯, 北祁連摺曲帯, 中央祁連地塊, 南祁連摺曲帯に区分される. この巡検では北祁連摺曲帯以北を見た. ここでは古生代前期のオフィオライト, 藍閃片岩, 花醐岩などが山脈最高部を形成し, その北麓にシルル紀ブリッシュ, その北にデボン紀以後の厚いモラッセが分布する (Song, 1996). オフィオライトは3列をなし, カンブリア紀後期からオルドビス紀後期まで, 南から北へ形成年代が若くなる傾向がある (Song, 1996).このように北へ若くなる地質ユニットの全体的な配列は, ツァイダム地塊の北への衝上 (または中朝地塊の南への沈み込み) による造山運動を暗示するが (王・劉, 1976), 花崗岩の分布などを根拠とする北への沈み込み説もある (肖・王, 1984). 藍閃片岩は南北2帯に分かれて分布し, 南側は変成度が高くエクロジャイトを伴い, 北側は変成度が低い. 変成年代はどちらも 450Ma 前後である (Wuetal., 1993). この巡検の詳細および引用文献については,
