The surfactants formed a lyotropic liquid crystal in the presence of water. In the potassium salt systems, liquid crystalline phase existed above 330K, and the lyotropic liquid crystals of the triethanolammonium salts were observed below 350K. The type of a liquid crystal, which was determined in the system of the trieth­anolammonium salts, depended on the surfactant concentration and temperature. There was a smectic liquid crystalline phase in the wide concentration range.
