In the X-FEM, we propose a simple method in which only the four-node quadrilateral isoperimetric elements in the fractured element are employed without the enrichment by the near-tip asymptotic solution. The friction forces are assumed to follow the Coulomb law, with a slip criterion treated in the context of a standard return mapping algorithm.
