Detailed experiments have been conducted with regard to the flashing phenomena in a decompressed capsule, using glass nozzles with eight values of length and inner diameter. The inception condition of flashing, and the spray characteristics, such as droplet temperature, diameter, number density, and mass flow rate, were clarified in relation to superheat degree and nozzle dimensions. A new model for spray flashing evaporation is proposed, and analyses were performed on the basis of the proposed model.
