本研究目的は、生活環が非常に短いことで知られる、アブラナ科の一変種、ファストプランツ（Brassica rapa）が、小・中学校の理科教材として有効かどうかを、授業実践を通して検証することである。 小学校第５学年において、生徒自ら播種から種子採取までを体験する、授業実践を行った。その結果概ね全ての生徒が容易に栽培し、結実までの観察が、計画した授業日数内でできたことから、ファストプランツが理科の植物教材として有効であることが確認できた。
The goal of this study is to verify that the Fast Plants, known as a variety of Cruciferae(Brassica rapa) with extremely short life cycle, is an effective teaching material for science classes of elemenntary school and junior high school.
In two science classes of the 5th grade of an elementary school, students carried out seeding, cultivating and gathering the seeds of the Fast Plants. Almost every students could treat and observe the plant through its life cycle easily within a scheduled period, indicatiing that the Fast Plants is an effective teaching material for the science class of elementary school.
