内容記述 Using the Kohler-type (mirror-type) device, an up-down reversed vision experiment was conducted. This experiment was named Kanazawa '92 Experiment. The author was the subject and the device was worn for a total of 200 hours during the 14-day period. The purpose of the experiment was to compare the effects of this type device with those of the rectangle prism-type goggles recorded two years earlier. The two experiments were conducted in similar manners : the same subject, duration, and environment, the only difference being direction of the field of view. With the mirror-type device, the subject can see himself easily, but with the prism-type goggles, he had to bend over to see his body. If the ability of the subject to see himself is important for visual adaptation to the visually-transposed world, the mirror-type device should be advantageous. The data of the experiment are composed of the subject's direct observations of daily perception and performance, and the results of ten different tests conducted every 3 days. The results are as follows. (1) With the mirror-type device, the subject maintained continuous vision using the three points of view ; looking straight ahead, looking ahead at a 45 degree angle, and looking directly down. (2) He was able to perform many kinds of visual-motor tasks smoothly, employing the visual frame of reference. (3) He saw objects right side up in these frames of visual reference, but they were not consistent with his bodily sense. In conclusion, his vision is normal in reference to what he saw, but not right side up in reference to what he felt.
